The 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Chiayi continues to rise in popularity. This evening (8th), the Love Chiayi Concert was held on the County Government Stage, gathering multiple acclaimed performers who took turns delivering outstanding performances. Golden‑hit songs filled the sea of lanterns, guiding the audience through a night where lights and melodies intertwined, and allowing them to feel Chiayi’s unique emotional landscape and collective memory rooted in this land.

The concert opened with a powerful fire-dance performance by the local Chiayi troupe Xin Gang HK FIRE Fire Dance Group, whose grand display ignited the night sky. They were followed by performances from Chiu & Yo, Oppa Shang Qing, Golden Melody Hokkien Singer Ong Li‑you, powerhouse vocalist Lín Xīnyí, and finally the much‑anticipated headliner, Chairman Band, who brought the evening to its climax.

From the passionate rhythms of rock and punk, to the youthful pulse of contemporary Hokkien pop, and the warm, emotive classics of Hokkien ballads and popular love songs, the diverse lineup formed a cross‑generational musical dialogue. Audiences of all ages found resonance between familiar melodies and innovative works, singing together to the musical memories that belong to Chiayi.

Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang‑liang was present to enjoy the concert and warmly interacted with the audience. He shared that although crowds surged at the lantern festival last night, many people online expressed understanding and support toward the county government and toward him personally, as well as encouragement to the festival staff—something that touched him deeply.

Magistrate Weng also announced that starting tomorrow, France’s Flying White Horse Show mechanical performance will take the stage with a spectacular presentation. He hopes the Taiwan Lantern Festival can feel like a grand carnival—a Disneyland without rides—where people from all over Taiwan can spend an unforgettable and joyful Lantern Festival in Chiayi.
