The 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival concluded successfully today (15th). This year’s festival covered an extensive area, and the overall workload was substantial. Nevertheless, the event received widespread praise from the public for its clean environment and high‑quality on‑site services. On the final day of the festival, Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang‑liang visited each lantern zone to personally thank frontline staff for their dedication and hard work.
Eight service stations were set up across the festival grounds, providing wheelchair and stroller rentals, emergency medical care, and visitor information services. The festival also featured six restroom locations, a food market area, and comprehensive environmental cleaning and maintenance throughout the venue.
Magistrate Weng visited each service point one by one, expressing appreciation directly to frontline personnel and thanking them for holding their posts throughout the festival to ensure smooth operations.
During his remarks at the closing ceremony in the evening, Weng stated: “The Taiwan Lantern Festival is spectacular every single day, and our staff work hard every single day.” He noted that the festival had received numerous positive comments online, with many visitors saying that the grounds were almost completely free of litter. He added that while this reflects the public’s excellent civic awareness, the credit also goes to the cleaning teams who worked tirelessly to maintain cleanliness.
After the ceremony, Weng made a special visit to the service counter and used the broadcast system to once again thank all personnel for their efforts and for staying until the final moment. He extended his appreciation to festival volunteers, county government staff, police and firefighters, medical teams, civilian auxiliary police and firefighters, shuttle bus teams, stage and engineering crews, and the cleaning and maintenance teams. It was the combined dedication of all these workers that allowed the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival to conclude smoothly and leave visitors with beautiful memories of their lantern‑viewing experience.
