The Orange Devils Are Coming: 121st Alumni Band to Perform at the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival

The “Orange Devils” are coming! The 121st Alumni Band of Kyoto Tachibana High School Brass Band (hereafter referred to as Orange Devils 121st) with 26 members will visit Taiwan this March to express gratitude for Taiwan’s warm assistance during the 311 Great East Japan Earthquake 15 years ago. The organizers, E.SUN Bank and the General Association of Culture, announced on the 23rd that Orange Devils 121st will perform on the main stage of the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival “Illuminating Taiwan, Lighting Up Chiayi,” bringing back their signature orange charm.

Orange Devils 121st will perform on March 10 at 6 PM on the main stage of “Illuminating Taiwan, Lighting Up Chiayi,” presenting multiple exciting pieces. This performance includes special commemorative songs prepared for Taiwanese fans, conveying heartfelt gratitude through their music.

Band member Kumagai expressed immense joy at once again standing on stage with partners who fought side by side for three years.

She added that during rehearsals she realized each member had different ideas, and since it was difficult to gather regularly, integrating everyone’s opinions was not easy. She sincerely thanked Taiwan for preparing such a precious stage, saying, “We will carry our deepest gratitude and give our all together with our partners, hoping to bring a performance full of smiles and joy.”

Looking back, Orange Devils 121st first visited Taiwan in 2022, becoming the first foreign performance group ever to appear on the National Day stage, sparking enthusiastic responses. The following year, they were invited again, holding grand parades at Kaohsiung Dream Mall and Taipei Ximending, and for the first time staged a solo ticketed concert at the National Concert Hall.

After nearly three years, 26 alumni have reunited under the name of the Alumni Band to return to Taiwan, expressing thanks to Taiwanese fans who have supported them all along. They hope to continue the Taiwan-Japan friendship through music, once again delivering performances full of smiles, energy, and dreams.
