Today (23rd) marks the start of the Lunar New Year work season. To welcome the upcoming “2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival,” Chiayi County’s agricultural joint brand “Chiayi Fresh,” Uni-President Convenience Stores Co., Ltd. (7-ELEVEN), and Fuhe Fresh Co., Ltd. have joined forces to launch the “Taiwan Lantern Festival Co-branded Fruit Box.” The popular mascot “OPEN-chan” also made a surprise appearance to support the product launch, symbolizing “sweet beginnings at work.” Chiayi’s premium fruit boxes are officially on sale starting today, available simultaneously at 7,300 7-ELEVEN stores nationwide.
“Chiayi Fresh” collaborated with the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival mascot “Chiayi-kun” to release two specially designed fruit boxes with cute packaging: “Honey Papaya Slices” and “Yu-Nv Cherry Tomato Box.” These feature representative high-quality fruits from Chiayi County, blending local characteristics with delicious flavors to provide consumers with fresh and memorable product experiences.
County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang stated that “Honey Papaya” is cultivated with technological sensing and smart management, resulting in bright red flesh, chewy texture, and stable sweetness. “Yu-Nv Cherry Tomatoes” are known for their thin skin, juiciness, high sweetness, and popularity in the market.
Weng further noted that Chiayi’s cherry tomatoes have repeatedly achieved outstanding results in national competitions. In February, at the “Healthy Quality Facility Cherry Tomato Contest” organized by the Tainan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station of the Ministry of Agriculture, Chiayi won 14 out of 16 awards, including first, second, and third place, demonstrating its strong capabilities in cultivation management and quality stability.
Chiayi Farmers’ Association Secretary-General Huang Chen-yu pointed out that the Taiwan Lantern Festival will soon be held in Chiayi County, attracting not only local residents but also tourists nationwide. In addition to the spectacular lantern events, the county government partnered with 7-ELEVEN to bring Chiayi’s premium agricultural products to stores across Taiwan, making them easily accessible to consumers. Honey Papaya is pre-sliced and packaged for convenience, while Yu-Nv Cherry Tomatoes, with their thin skin and juicy sweetness, are beloved by many. This initiative helps promote Chiayi’s agricultural products and showcases the county’s farming charm.
The “Chiayi Fresh x Taiwan Lantern Festival Co-branded Fruit Box” will be available at 7,300 7-ELEVEN stores nationwide from today until March 15. The Chiayi County Government sincerely invites everyone to visit their local 7-ELEVEN during the Lunar New Year and Lantern Festival period, support local farmers, and savor the fresh sweetness from Chiayi’s land.
