The 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Chiayi is approaching its finale. Before the closing ceremony, the grand drone light show delivered a stunning performance, as 1,000 Made‑in‑Taiwan (MIT) drones took to the sky in perfect synchronization. Centered around the theme of “Chiayi · Taiwan,” the dazzling aerial imagery illustrated Chiayi’s vision for industrial transformation and urban development. The breathtaking performance brought the nearly two‑week-long festival to a brilliant close, attracting crowds who paused to capture the touching moment on their phones.
Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang‑liang stated that this finale was not only a visual spectacle but also a meaningful symbol of Chiayi’s advancement. From an agricultural county to a growing hub of agri‑industry and technology, Chiayi is steadily pushing forward industrial upgrades and urban development, becoming a driving force that helps Taiwan connect with the world.
The drone show opened with “Alishan Sunrise,” where the internationally renowned golden dawn lit up the night sky, symbolizing a hopeful beginning for Chiayi. The drones then outlined the shape of Taiwan, gradually rotating to present the steadfast silhouette of “my small, mountainous island nation,” transforming local pride into momentum for stepping onto the global stage.
Next, the “Chiayi Excellent Produce” brand symbol appeared, representing the county’s high‑quality agricultural products and deep agricultural heritage. This was followed by the “Teng Yun UAV,” showcasing Taiwan’s domestically developed large‑scale unmanned aerial vehicle and highlighting Chiayi’s role as an essential base for the drone industry.
The drones then depicted the globally spotlighted advanced packaging technology CoWoS, signaling Chiayi’s growing integration into the global AI supply chain as it transitions toward becoming an agri‑industrial and tech‑driven county. Shortly after, the image of a large outlet mall emerged—symbolizing the future commercial complex near the High‑Speed Rail station, which will offer shopping, dining, leisure, and entertainment, injecting new energy into the city’s development.
In the later segment of the performance, the drones formed a towering tree, symbolizing Chiayi’s continuous growth rooted in the land. The finale presented the main visual of “2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Chiayi,” with the central text transforming into “Golden Decade,” marking Chiayi’s entry into a new phase of industrial and urban advancement.
Finally, the words “AI Taiwan” reappeared in the sky, representing Taiwan’s strength in artificial intelligence and technology. Amid applause and cheers, the drone light show concluded this year’s Taiwan Lantern Festival with a futuristic, tech‑inspired finale.
