2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival “Sustainable Ocean Lantern Zone” Receives Overwhelming Praise

The 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Chiayi continues to attract large crowds, becoming even more enchanting as night falls. Visitors from around the world, especially families, walk into the “Sustainable Ocean Lantern Zone” and can’t help but exclaim, “It’s so adorable!” The area around the Whale Battleship is also one of the best viewing spots for the drone show.

Mr. Chang from Puzi shared that since before the Lunar New Year, he would see the Whale Battleship flying in the sky every day during his commute. He knew then that this year’s Taiwan Lantern Festival would be spectacular. As expected, this year’s festival has received high praise from countless visitors, making him feel proud. Ms. Tsou, who traveled all the way from Hualien, said that people in Hualien also wish they could have this Whale Battleship.

The final drone show will take place tonight, the 15th, at 7:00 p.m. The Environmental Protection Bureau welcomes everyone to the “Sustainable Ocean Lantern Zone” to enjoy the drone technology light show.

The “Sustainable Ocean Lantern Zone,” themed around the ocean world, features 12 Ocean Heroes and Marine Waste Monsters. Their adorable and quirky designs have become a favorite among many visitors. Ms. Kao from Taipei said that this year’s Taiwan Lantern Festival is truly worth visiting—the 12 ocean animals and waste creatures in the zone are irresistibly cute and perfect for photos.

Ms. Lin from Taichung was impressed by the extensive decorations made from oyster shells and recycled marine waste, noting that the “Oyster Shell Mountain” left the deepest impression on her. Molly, a popular KOL who has photographed lantern festivals across Taiwan, became excited upon seeing the colorful little fish projected on the ground darting around her feet. She praised the lantern zone as a thoughtfully designed and beautifully crafted area, highly recommending it to all visitors.

As part of the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Chiayi, the “Sea Chiayi, Come Together” interactive questionnaire lottery event for the Sustainable Ocean Lantern Zone held its first draw on March 9. A total of 403 participants joined, and the system randomly selected 333 winners, each receiving one 7‑11 CITY CAFE coffee.

The list of winners has been announced on the Chiayi County Environmental Protection Bureau’s Facebook page “Chiayi Carbon Reduction,” and prize collection information has been emailed to participants. The event continues until March 15, with the second draw on March 16.
